A Pioneer in Higher Education

O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is a non-profit global university established by the Government of Haryana and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). JGU was established as a philanthropic initiative of its Founding Chancellor, Mr. Naveen Jindal in the memory of his father, Mr. O.P. Jindal. It has been awarded the highest grade ‘A’ by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC).

JGU has been recognized under Section 12B of the UGC Act, 1956, becoming the first private university in Haryana to receive this recognition. It was also ranked first on the All-India Swachhta Rankings of higher education institutions of the Government of India. In a consolidated demonstration of its achievements over eight years, JGU is currently ranked in the 251-300 rank bracket of the QS University Rankings: BRICS 2018 Edition. It is ranked in the top 300 universities out of 9,000 universities in the BRICS region (covering five countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), placing it in the top 2.8% of the universities in the BRICS region. It is also the first and only private university in Haryana to hold an international ranking. Through this recognition, JGU is ranked among the top 10 public and top 10 private higher education institutions in India.

JGU is one of the few universities in Asia that maintains a 1:13 faculty-student ratio and appoints faculty members from across India and different parts of the world having outstanding academic qualifications and experience. It is a research intensive university which is deeply committed to its core institutional values of interdisciplinarity and innovative pedagogy; pluralism and rigorous scholarship; and globalism and international engagement. JGU has established eight schools: Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), Jindal Global Business School (JGBS), Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA), Jindal School of Government and Public Policy (JSGP), Jindal School of Liberal Arts & Humanities (JSLH), Jindal School of Journalism & Communication (JSJC), Jindal School of Art & Architecture (JSAA) and Jindal School of Banking & Finance (JSBF).

The Guiding Light of JGU

Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar is the Founding Vice Chancellor of JGU. He also serves as the Founding Dean of Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) and Director of the International Institute for Higher Education Research & Capacity Building (IIHEd). He earned his academic qualifications from the University of Oxford, Harvard University, University of Hong Kong, University of Delhi and Loyola College. He was a faculty member at the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong, where he taught for many years.

Professor Kumar has over hundred and fifty publications to his credit and has published widely in peer reviewed journals and law reviews in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan and USA. He has authored, co-authored, edited and co-edited seven books. He has been a Consultant to the United Nations University (UNU), Tokyo; United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); UN Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights, Geneva; and the International Council for Human Rights Policy (ICHRP), Geneva. Professor Kumar is an Attorney at Law and is admitted to the Bar Council of Delhi, India and the Bar of the State of New York, US.

JGU has approximately 1400 alumni worldwide. They play an important part in representing the University’s core values¾respect for pluralism, diversity, and collegiality; in advancing the University’s reputation as a higher education institution committed to providing a global education; in embodying the commitment of JGU and its founders to public service; and in championing the University’s spirit of community outreach, concern for the environment, and the highest ethical standards in all their endeavours. Career Opportunities and Exposures

Students at JGU gain professional exposure and experience through summer internships, field visits, and working with faculty members and researchers within the University through research centres and projects.

The University has a dedicated office, the Career Development & Placement Division that supports and facilitates career development activities for students. This includes helping students in exploring career options, identifying individual interests, gaining experience in a chosen field, preparing for interviews and achieving career goals.

CDPD offers a variety of programmes, trainings and resources that prepares students to succeed in their career. It also supports students through providing soft skills and personality development trainings, mock interview sessions and career counseling sessions. In addition, it provides placement opportunities and helps to connect students and employers. CDPD also conducts industry interaction sessions and networking events by experienced professionals from diversified sectors. It also conducts CV reviews and guides students to write industry specific cover letters, emails, and much more.
