Illinois School Safety Helpline Introduced Statewide

Officials stated Wednesday that an Illinois school safety helpline aimed at offering youngsters a place to report information that could help avoid bullying, suicide, and campus violence was expanded statewide this week.

Governor J.B. Pritzker said in a statement on Wednesday, “Safe2Help Illinois was launched in conjunction with America’s Safe Schools Week because our kids are safer, when they have a confidential avenue to speak up for the mental health of their peers and themselves.”

Once verified, the material will be immediately shared with local school officials, mental health specialists, and/or criminal enforcement. The program also intends to assist local officials by providing mental health services and other tools to assist youngsters before they harm themselves or others.
