JVBI : An Introduction
This institution aims to promote humanistic values and to integrate modern science with ancient wisdom of the great spiritual practitioners and visionary seers by interweaving moral and spiritual norms and values with the materialistic and economic fibers of mankind to foster and develop universal human relationships for the peaceful co-existence. It was established by its mother Institution Jain Vishva Bharati, Ladnun as the result of visionary dream of Spiritual leader and great social reformer H.H. Ācārya Śrī Tulasī, the first Anuśāstā (Spiritual Mentor) of it, followed by H.H. Ācārya Śrī Mahāprajña, the second Anuśāstā. At present, it is flourishing in pious presence of H.H. Ācārya Śrī Mahāśramaṇa, the third Anuśāstā. It is situated in campus of peace, penance and peacock and spread across 21.5 acres of land and has more than 2,51,053 sq.ft. of built up area, located at Ladnun in Nagaur district of Rajasthan.
Achievement
It has been accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC and ‘A’ category by MHRD, New Delhi and member of AIU and ACU. Its academic programs are recognized by NCTE, DEB, and UGC, New Delhi. It also maintains the international collaborations with Ghent University, Belgium; Florida University, Miami, USA; Italian Yoga Federation, Italy and many more and also encourages students to manifest their creativity by leveraging the guidance of its well-experienced in-house and visiting faculties.
Infrastructure
It has 13 buildings and 500 rooms for pursuing JVBI’s academic goals of teaching, learning and research. Other facilities enlist Smart Classrooms, Digital Studio, open air theatre, well stacked Library (75,000 books and journals), Auditorium, sport grounds, computer labs and other paraphernalia.
Curriculum
Academically, it has four core departments namely Department of Jainology and Comparative Religion and Philosophy, Oriental Studies and Languages Yoga and Science of Living, Nonviolence and Peace, developed to imbibe Indological Studies and Jain Studies with concurrent perspectives. Other Departments (Social Work, Education, English) and a girl under-graduate College named as Ācārya Kālū Kanyā Mahāvidyālaya (with B.A., B.Com., B.Sc.) are also reputing in competitive atmosphere. The teaching and learning facilities are available in regular and distant modes for Certificate, diploma and B.A., M.A. levels. In field of research, approximately 284 doctoral researches had been conducted. Its Faculties are engaged in pursuing the research projects sponsored by UGC, ICPR, ICHR, and various external bodies as well as home institution and motivating and guiding students. Tulsī Prajñā Research Journal, an UGC recognized and Peer Reviewed, is also published regularly. It has its own publishing house where many major and important books of Scholars are published from time to time.
Innovation
Its current iteration boasts of various unique initiatives such as establishing IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) for quality check, Academic Audits, Students’ feedback for teaching performance, Alumni Feedback, Students and Faculties developmental programs in Curriculum and Extra-curriculum excellence, Semester and Choice based credit system of syllabus and more flexible and reliable exam system. Beside this, Science of Living and training in nonviolence are initiative courses in field of science and spirituality and enlightening citizenship, social awareness and women empowerment along with rural developmental program where 10 villages are adopted by its extension department.
Vice-Chancellor
Prof. B.R. Dugar, Vice-Chancellor of Jain Vishva Bharati Institute, Ladnun, Rajasthan is a doyen of Peace and Nonviolent Studies and a leading expert of Peace, Gandhian Thought & Nonviolence, Conflict Resolution and Relative Economics in India with a keen interest in their application in the lives of human beings. His contributions enlist the furtherance of Familial Peace, Practice, and Training in Nonviolence, Environmental Awareness and Human Rights; completion of many research projects on Value Education, Training in Nonviolence and Domestic Violence; active involvement in the development of Relative Economics; organizer of various programs for Training the Youth in Non-violence and Culture of Peace. He has a flair for institution building and believes in team work.
Financial Aids and Assistance, Career Opportunities
Institution renders the scholarship and free lodging and boarding facilities for students of core departments and fee exemption for girl students of other departments in special case. It runs the scheme named Ācārya Tulasī Śikṣā Pariyojanā (ATSP) which provides opportunities of education to girls of peripheral. Students are provided guidance for career building by its Career Counselling Cell and its functional Placement Cell assistant them by coordinating with various companies for on-campus placement. Willing and needy students are also facilitated for part time job within Campus.
Thus this institution has its unique identification for its efforts in uprising the social-spiritual values by being a center of excellence in the field of Jain Studies and the Prakrit Language along with oriental languages and studies and international center of learning Ahimsa (Non Violence), Jeevan Vigyan (Science of Living) and Preksha Dhyan (Preksha Meditation).
