Jefferson School Board Approves a Proposal to Reopen the School

According to a new calendar approved by the Jefferson Parish School Board Monday night, some Jefferson Parish School’s students will be in school until June 9 owing to lost time due to Hurricane Ida.

Schools in Tier 1 will close for kids on May 26 under this idea, which was one of three proposed in a survey last week. Students in Tier 2 schools will conclude on June 2. Those in Tier 3 schools, which have been struck the hardest by Hurricane Ida, will complete on June 9.

The plan, which received 48 percent support in an online survey conducted by the school board last week, will ensure that kids and teachers get the required number of instructional minutes and workdays.
