The Koneru Lakshmaiah Charities were established in 1980 at Vijaywada, AP. It had reached new heights throughout its momentous journey and established K L College of Engineering in 1980-81. In 1996, the Trust was converted into Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation (KLEF). The college attained autonomous status in 2006 and in February-2009, the KLEF Society was recognized as a Deemed to be University.

KLEF is situated in a spacious campus of 100 acres beside Buckingham Canal at a distance of 8 km from the city of Vijayawada and provides the ideal ambiance for scholastic pursuits. Built within a rural expanse of pastoral grace and greenery, the institute is a virtual haven of pristine tranquility and idyllic beauty. The University offers various options for flexibility in the curriculum throughout its undergraduate (B. Tech) and postgraduate (M. Tech, MBA, and MCA) offerings. Various unique options include features like acceleration & deceleration of degree program, minor degree, degree with a specialization, withdrawal, and substitution, and so on. KLEF is accredited A++ by NAAC and is recognized as a Tier-1 University by UGC. About the Department of Hotel Management
The University’s Department of Hotel Management primarily focuses on skill development of the students, and in turn, transforms them into furnished professionals. It offers a 3-year program in hotel management in four major subjects of international standards – Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office, and House Keeping. It also includes a few ancillary subjects for the much-needed skill provision and enhancement in fields like Human Resources, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship.
KLEF’s hotel management program is equipped with well-furnished labs like basic training kitchen, quantity training kitchen, bakery, fine dining restaurant, basic training restaurant, front office lab, and housekeeping lab. These seven labs ensure that the students are provided ample opportunities for a well-processed practicum. Additionally, a 36 keys 4-star hotel is managed on this campus. The department also organizes food festivals, a mixology workshop, and guest lectures as part of the curriculum.
The Dedicated Frontrunner
The person spearheading the institution is none other than Sri. Koneru Satyanarayana, the Co-Founder and Executive President of KLEF. Sri Koneru has led KLEF’s journey to success from Day one. His astute leadership has assisted the University to grow from an engineering college in 1980 to an autonomous entity in 2006 and to be a deemed University in 2009. He aims to take KLEF among the top five private T-schools in India by 2020.
Under his able stewardship, KLEF has received multiple academic accreditations from NBA, NAAC, ISO 9001, and so on. His untiring efforts have also led to the establishment of Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneur Development Center (IIEDC). He pays the utmost importance on human values and professional ethics, which has been the most distinguishing feature of his administration. As such, he ensured that Human Values is included in KLEF’s undergraduate curriculum as a compulsory course.

The department provides students with excellent career opportunities as the industry needs young, dynamic, and proactive youth to handle the emerging challenges of the new millennium. Students get placements in roadways, waterways, and airline services, five-star hotels, luxury dining restaurants, food outlets, and so on. They are also employed as chefs/ stewards on ships and airlines. The department also offers mandatory training on the campus, which is amply supported by real-time experience in the industry. Students are offered industrial training from year one onwards and their performance is integrated into their academic results.
The University is of the opinion that the emergence of Amravati as an excellent capital in the next five years will create a major boost towards the hotel and hospitality industry. They expect growth in twenty plus 5-star hotels, 100+ convention halls, 100 fine dining restaurants, 20 food parks, 20 Bhim parks, and so on. The University also expects medium-term navigation of houseboats and canoes in the Krishna canal system a la gangasagar and large-scale modernization of catering and other services.
