Maharashtra Institute of Technology’s School of Management (MIT-SOM) is an NBA (National Board of Accreditation) accredited B-school that has been listed in the top 100 B-Schools in India by National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

MITSOM boasts of some of the best world class infrastructure found in the country. The library and the media center is housed in a separate building and has a stock of more than 40000 books on management, computers and on other subjects along with extra paraphernalia’s of audio and video CDs and cassettes and even projection systems. It has an automated system and enables the students to access MAEER’s campus libraries and the British Council Library. It has subscribed to 60 National and International journals & magazines. The MITSOM library serves to be one of the strongest pillars of learning environment at MITSOM.
Another highlight at MITSOM is the computer lab that houses 255 Hi-Performance based dedicated workstations that are networked with two servers. Students have 24 hour internet access through Wi-Fi. In addition to this, the e-campus at MIT, Pune, with 2500 computers is directly linked with the MITSOM network through a dedicated lease line for internet connection with a bandwidth of 32 MBPS. Two of its servers are loaded with various software, such as Visual Studio, Advanced Java, Page Maker, Corel Draw, and Linux, which are accessible from all work stations. It also facilitates online teaching and practical learning.
Apart from a full-fledged cafeteria, a relaxation room is provided for students within MITSOM building where tea, coffee, snacks, soft drinks are available. It also encourages viewing of news channels and certain educational films, so that students could enjoy constructive break times.
A Mentor with an Entrepreneurial Vision
After starting her career as a trainer and motivator, Dr. Sayalee Gankar spent her next 24 years in Entrepreneurship Development. She is the current Director of MITSOM and the Dean Management (PG Programmes) at the MIT World Peace University. She is also the faculty and trainer in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management, and Entrepreneurship Development for Post Graduate Management courses like MBA, PGDBA and PGDBM. She has personally trained more than 2500 potential entrepreneurs. She has also conducted Management Development Programme for Middle Level Management and Small Scale Entrepreneurs. She has trained various target groups like Faculty, Trainers, Teachers, NGO, Social Workers, Cooperative sector workers, Science & Technology Graduates, Ex-servicemen, Women and Rural groups. She has successfully handled several training programmes in collaboration with SIDBI, Department of Science and Technology and Department of Sainik Welfare. She is the preferred trainer for several prestigious corporate houses, such as Wipro, Tata Motors, DELL, Ranbaxy, Dr. Reddy’s, Reliance, etc. Dr. Gankar has been selected and trained under the LIMRA International, USA for the Insurance sector. She has received a National Award for Best Entrepreneur Trainer Motivator. She is working as a Behavioral Assessor for assessing various competencies across levels through various HRD tools, such as TAT, SRQ, 16PF, MBTI and Five Big Model.
Dr. Gankar has published several papers and presented them in places like Paris, Poland and even the Dubai campus of Pune University. She has published around 40 articles in Indian Express and 14 International Research papers. Dr. Gankar has been honoured with the scholarship for “Entrepreneurs Educator Course” and “1000 Women Tools for Growing Business”.
She is a “Life Member” at the prestigious organization Community AID and Sponsorship Program (CASP). She had been appointed as Member of CSR Advisory Council of SKF India Limited in June 2016. She has also been a member and panel expert for various National & University level committees like NIBM, Symbiosis International University, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), MCCIA, etc.

MITSOM is known for combining the power of analytics and people and invests in pioneers who bring bold ideas to the table. With the aim to enable the students to better understand themselves and to point out where career development efforts need to be directed, MITSOM has initiated a unique activity called, Competency Mapping. Under this initiative, MITSOM faculties Dr.Varsha Nadkarni and Dr.Ashish Kulkarni, under the guidance of Dr. Sayalee Gankar, have developed an in house development centre and assessment centre for personal and professional development of students. It consists of Mentorship program for first year students of all courses by internal faculty members and is followed by mentoring from experts who come from industry as well as from behavioral sciences area during second year. Competency Mapping involves the determination of the extent to which the person possesses the various competencies related to a job. During this activity, the gap between the required and the actual competencies for the students are determined and are accordingly mentored not just for their placements, but also for Personal and Professional Development. The instruments majorly focus on students’ perception, thought process, temperament, ability to handle tactical situations and interpersonal relationship, etc.

The university is focused on every possible outcome to sensitize and understand the human dimensions of conflict and endeavors to develop a toolbox of transferable skills such as negotiation, peace building, technology and management.
With 15:1 student-faculty ratio, 9 Pockets of Excellence in Specialisations and e-Databases, more than 45 MOUs and more than 65 Academic Advisory Board members and finally, with the participation of more than 440 companies in the placement programme, it doesn’t come as a surprise that MITSOM boasts of one of the best placement figures in the industry. In 2017 itself, 98% and 94% of MBA and MCA graduates respectively, were successfully placed in various sectors. The top international salary was $1200 along with incentives while the top Indian salary was Rs. 10 lakhs PA.
MIT Group of Institutions is proud of its more than 30000 alumni, of which, more than 6000 belong to the MITSOM alumni network that is spread across the globe. “Re-connect” is an annual event that congregates all the alumni working in key positions in various industries. It is an event that everyone looks forward to and is held in two chapters, one in Pune and the other in Mumbai. This event mainly focuses on sharing industry experiences, managerial challenges faced in current era and exchange of entrepreneurial know-how between students, faculty and alma mater.
MITSOM also conducts fast-paced academic trips with a unique opportunity to actually experience business and culture through company visits, meetings with top corporate professionals and cultural excursions. MBA faculties and students also visit Harvard Business School, and Babson and Pace University in the US. With more than 15 clubs, MITSOM is host to at least one spectacle in every trimester. The Indradhanu Club at MITSOM organizes various cultural events on the campus, for instance, Jalsa, a mega cultural event. A dedicated Sports Club is well supported to take the initiative of organizing various sporting events throughout the year. The students of MITSOM campus have taken various initiatives towards environment conservation.
