The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay had allowed Afghan students to return to its campus to continue their studies. These students were permitted to join the classes from the hostel so that their studies would not be disrupted. The decision had been taken considering the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan.

But as per the latest reports, the nine Afghan students, who were offered admissions this year may not return to the IIT Bombay campus. Their seats will be reserved so that they can come and join next year. IIT Bombay Director Shubhashish Chowdhary said, “They realize that things aren’t going to be easy as they were. Even internet can be stopped, and they may not be able to take classes.”

The students from Afghanistan were attending the online classes from their homes. But the rapidly deteriorating conditions in Afghanistan put a question mark on their studies. As a result, the institute had asked the students to come back and join the classes.
