RVCA offers Undergraduate (B. Arch)Postgraduate (M. Arch in Urban Design) and Doctoral programs (PhD) in Architecture, approved by the Council of Architecture and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, Karnataka. Teaching at RVCA involves instilling the basics of building design, campus design, building construction, sustainable buildings, architecture in urban context, construction management, Geographical Information systems (GIS), Building Information management (BIM), digital architecture, etc., amongst the students which prepares them for various challenging roles.

RVCA also facilitates students to get various scholarships promoted by the State Govt. and Central Govt. agencies like MHRD and Ministry of minority affairs.

About the Principal

Dr. Om Prakash BawanePrincipalR. V. College of Architecture: Plays a key leadership role at RVCA. With nearly three decades of academics and administrative experience, Dr. Bawane is one of the senior most professors of architecture in Karnataka. Dr. Bawane is an alumnus of NIT, Bhopal and IIT Roorkee and recipient of numerous awards. He specializes in areas of climatic design, building services and quality management in construction industry and has visited several architecture schools across country to deliver talks. He is currently holding the position of Chairman, VTU’s Board of Studies in Architecture.

The most notable alumni of RVCA are well-established in specialized fields like campus design, residential enclave design, Landscape design, Architectural conservation and more. Many of them are also doing worldwide research and have excelled in their field. Some of the prominent names are: Abhay Zachariah (Zachariah consultants Bangalore), Indraneel Dutta (Dutta & kannan associates), Varna Sashidhar (Landscape Architect), Smaran Mallesh (Cadence), Naveen Mahantesh, Sanjay Sridhar (C40 Regional Director for South and West Asia), Pankaj Modi (Conservation Architect) etc.

Most of the students succeed in securing place for internship in leading design firms during their professional training or internship semester, which eventually turns into placements. RVCA’s training and placement cell facilitates the students in seeking placement in various Architecture and Urban Design firms across India. The institute feels proud at their 100% placement rate which they have maintained till date since the past several years.

  • Ankitha Rao R (1RV14AUD03) M Arch (UD) 2014 Batch listed in Final best 10 entries in ARCHIPRIX 2017, an International Design forum/competition at CEPT (Ahmedabad).
  • C. Kathyaini, Ms. Kadambari Komandur & Ms. Meher Uddaraju qualified as Finalist in International. Competition on ” Refugee Market Place Design” organised by Ideation Worldwide(IDeA) 2016
  • Suhasini Hangal won Silver Medal in Asian Contest for Architectural Rookie’s Award (ACARA) – India Domestic Contest 2016. ACARA is an International contest held every year for students of Architecture.
