The University at Sri Ganganagar was established by Act 32 of the Rajasthan State Legislative Assembly in the year 2013. The aim here was to provide quality education at a nominal cost to the masses of border areas and to those who are deprived of resources and amenities. Today, it has a huge infrastructure spread over 45.81 acres of land. Since inception, in the brevity of six years, the University has succeeded in achieving its primary goal.
Currently, the University has 14 fully developed Colleges namely Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Paramedical, Agriculture, Law, Education, Physical Education, Engineering, Management, Science, Commerce, and Arts and Crafts, and a Research Directorate. Almost all faculties offer up to Doctorate level education.
The university envisages to create and disseminate knowledge and provide students a unique learning environment and experience in different disciplines of scholarship. It is determined to emerge as a world-class University to cater to the present and future manpower needs of the society.Further, it aims to groom youth who are not only thorough professionals but also good human beings with high moral values.

The Founder Dr. S.S. Tantia, a renowned Psychiatrist of the region conceived the idea of setting up a university in the border area of the country. A Philanthropist to the core, Dr. Tantia was a living visionary fueled by enterprise and driven by determination. Modest, affable, and endearing are the words that truly describe his personality. As a great human being, he was endowed with great compassion and concern for the under-privileged section of society. During the period of guidance, he emphasized group involvement in education.
The University’s current President Prof. M.M. Saxena is M.Sc. Zoology -Gold medalist, and Ph.D. from the University of Jodhpur. Earlier he has served Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner in various capacities including Dean – Faculty of Science, Professor & Head, Department of Environmental Science, Director Research, Controller of Examinations, Chairman Central Library, Coordinator UGC NET, and Coordinator Self Finance Courses besides being the Member of the Board of Management of the University. He has over 40 years of Research, Post-graduate teaching, and Administrative experience while working with Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner, University of Jodhpur, College Education- Rajasthan, and Zoological Survey of India.

Student Life at Tantia University
At present, the university has on its rolls about 4000 students pursuing various courses. Out of these, about 400 reside in furnished modern boys’ and girls’ hostels. Herein, students get comfortable with lift, 24×7 Wi-Fi connectivity, and hygienic food. Additionally, ultramodern laboratories, well-stocked libraries, on-campus cafeteria, bank, ATM and sprawling lawns and vast playgrounds offer an attractive and conducive environment to the students.
Beyond the curriculum, students are exposed to real-life situations and future challenges through the field, industrial and institutional visits, projects, case studies, and live demonstrations.
Coming to the career front, after successful course completion, the University provides a hundred percent placement or self-employment in most of the professional courses. This is achieved via the Placement Cell of the University.
Path Ahead
The University will continue to disseminate quality education in several disciplines. For forthcoming years, it plans to establish a Medical College and Veterinary College on the campus. Infrastructure for the same has already been established and awaits approval of the regulating bodies.
Moreover, a 300 bedded Jansewa Hospital with all modern amenities and manpower has been developed and running for the last two years. Its laboratories have modern infrastructure, smart classroom, and well-stocked libraries. Experimental agriculture and dairy farms, over 40 cadavers for anatomical studies, well-organized museums are all available to provide hands-on training to students.
