The Ankeny School Board agreed Tuesday night to reintroduce the requirement that all employees, students, volunteers, and visitors wear masks within district buildings during regular school hours. The board voted 5-2 to adopt revisions to the school’s return-to-learn plan, including requiring all students, instructors, staff visitors, and volunteers, regardless of vaccination status, to wear masks indoors during the school day.

Indoor masking will be strongly encouraged, but not necessary, during school events held outside of the regular school day. On school grounds, there will be no need to wear a mask. On Thursday, the adjustments will take effect.
