Vivekanandha College of Engineering for Women (VCEW) was started in the year 2001 with the objective to extend the frontiers of technical knowledge to rural women students and to empower them with the power of knowledge. The college always works towards imparting value based hi-tech education to women in order to make them a globally competitive force, in this new era of technology.

Situated in the ancient & historic district of Namakkal, this autonomous institution is affiliated to Anna University and is accredited by NAAC, AICTE, New Delhi, and TCS. It is an ISO 9000:2008 certified college that has been selected as the best women engineering college of India 2017 by ISTE and Ranked No. 1 in Anna University’s merit list.

Notable Courses that are Shaping Students’ Future

Vivekanandha College of Engineering for Women has five streams of B.E./B.Tech programs in the disciplines of Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology and Bio-Technology. It has six Postgraduate programs in Engineering and Technology with specializations of Computer Science and Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Applied Electronics, Information Technology, VLSI Design, Master of Business Administration and two R&D Centers (Full / Part-Time Ph.D./M.S.) in Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

What started as mere 144 students in 2001, today, the college has grown multifold and has more than 1683 students under its roll call list, who are pursuing various Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs under its roof. These programs are passionately mentored by a robust team of 172 adept faculty members who are leaving no stone unturned in shaping the career of its students.

Grand Facilities at VCEW

The College provides state-of-the-art infrastructure, ICT enabled teaching aids and advanced machineries for the better student learning as well for research/consultancy services. It has a unique syllabus, regulations and examination system (continuous assessment and End Semester Examinations) for the students, Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) in which the students have optional subjects to choose from another discipline curriculum.

Grand auditorium with a seating capacity of 5000, A/C enabled Seminar Hall, adequate sport infrastructure, Gym facilities, fully furnished hostel facilities and more, which the college provides for the holistic development of its students.

Management provides the free transport facility for women students as well. The college operates a fleet of Buses, Vans, numbering more than 200 for easy mobility of the women students from different parts of the districts.

Vivekanandha educational institutions additionally own Vivekanandha Medical Care Hospital, which is a multi-specialty hospital that is mainly established for the welfare of the Women students’ studying across the entire institution.

Career Opportunities at VCEW

Centre for Job Oriented Studies and Training provides coaching classes for Economically Backward Women students for various competitive exams including PSC, Bank clerical examinations, UPSC, SSC, and so on.

Career Guidance and Placement Cell and Equal Opportunity Cell also conduct programs which enable the women students to appear for competitive examinations. Excellent placement record with prolific procurement ensures that most of the women students (more than 90 %) get placed in Tier-I companies include HCL, Wipro, Cognizant, TCS and more.

Financial Assistance for the Needy

The Management offers Women student welfare schemes to tune of nearly Rs.75-90 lakhs every year which includes fee concessions, free transport and free hostel accommodation. Special scholarships are given to the differently-abled students, Sports students, and underprivileged students in terms of fee waivers.

The Judicious Leadership of VCEW

Vidhya Rathna, Dr. M. Karunanithi, B.Pharm., M.S., Ph.D., D.Litt. is the Chairman & Secretary of Vivekanandha Educational Institutions. He started Angammal Educational Trust in 1987 with the vision of promoting technical and professional education exclusively for women. Presently there are 25 educational institutions sponsored by the trust offering education to 23,000 women students. “Vivekanandha Educational institution is the only one of its kind in the whole of Asia. Prominently our groups of Institutions are being recognized as Asia’s largest Women Institutions,” assert Karunanithi.
