. The main issue addressed was CRT or critical race theory. “CRT has become a controversial topic and whether or not it is being taught in schools nationally during the 2020-21 school year,” said Scanlon.

Locale residents passionately addressed equity education in addition to public comments in the West Chester Area School District. A few speakers concurred with the district’s policies, and others asked questions about them or indicated the district should not be teaching CRT, which Scanlon says it is not.

Scanlon said, “CRT should not be confused because race and other identifiers had a historical impact on the United States.”
