It plays a vital role in developing various skills of the children from cognitive to language, socio-emotional, intrapersonal and interpersonal as well. While most parents consider Kindergarten is the official start of their child’s education, the preceding years are also crucial for learning.
Petals preschool is an innovative, vibrant, creative and energetic organization where each one of the students strives through the practices to serve children wholeheartedly and make every learning moment a joyful, useful and meaningful. Petals started with the vision to provide natural, holistic child-centric nurturing learning environment that empowers and inspires the students to be conscientious, creative and innovative leaders of tomorrow.
Ushering New Possibilities
The name Petals was given by the Chairperson Preeti Kwatra who is a child psychologist who thoroughly believes that each child is capable of doing wonders if they are provided the right environment. While keeping this aspect in mind, she started up her school with just eight children. Her dream is to set up a world-class school that provides quality education and services to all the children.
Initiation and Franchise
The first branch of Petals was started in the year 2003 at Ram Vihar, East Delhi with a handful of children. The new branch was opened in Nirman Vihar with 50+ students, and with the time the branch flourished and taught more than 10000 kids. Currently, it has 600+ students and 50+ facilitators who are all working towards the holistic development of the children. After running the school successfully, Petals have decided to serve the society by delivering the similar quality to various kids of the nation. Globalized Education
Today children need to collaborate and compete in a globalized world, a world that requires a strong foundation right from the beginning. Petals is a unique “extended pre-school” that addresses those early learning. Living in a world of digitalization where the mode of communication is mostly through messages. Thus being with age, the portal and app have been created where the parent can view their child’s profile, assessment records, and curriculum and fee receipts anytime and anywhere. It saves time, use of paper and increases the connectivity of the parents with the institution.
Internationally Acknowledged Curriculum
The curriculum of Petals is the amalgamation of global practices. The institution has been inspired by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is the statutory standard that all early years must be provided to ensure that children from birth to age five develop well and are kept healthy and safe. Then there is the Maria Montessori methodology that believes that moving and learning were inseparable. The child must involve their entire body and use all their senses in the process of learning.
Redulf is another way which is nothing but counting rhymes and picture books as a great way to help the child to develop their language and communication skills. The Reggio Emilia Approach is also there, which is an innovative and inspiring approach to Early Childhood Education which values the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge. As parents are the role mirrors of the children, it involves parents to be a part of discussions, teaching-learning methodologies, child development concerns, and curriculum implementation.
While keeping this in mind, the school has incorporated rhymes wherein children learn new words, understand how words are formed, learn about different beats and rhythms, develop their language skills and become confident learners.
Health and Hygiene Education Takes Forefront
Promoting healthy eating habits and maintaining hygiene in the surrounding, through pretend play, role play and story dramatization we teach our kids the importance of keeping our self and our surroundings health and hygiene. “We discuss morning routine & bedtime routine with our kids so that they follow at home, and encourage the children to throw the waste in the dustbin whether at home, school or road. We have child-sized wash basin so that each child can wash their hands on their own under the supervision of an adult” says Preeti Kwatra.
Acknowledgments and Futuristic Approach
The most significant achievement was opening the branch at the height of 3500m above sea-level at Leh, Ladakh, and along with it the school has become the ‘Pre-school chain of the year-2018’ and certifies in excellence in Best Innovative Teaching Practices 2016 in Delhi-NCR awarded by Brands Academy.
Petals Preschool is coming up with the TAB where each child will get a TAB with the entire study material inbuilt. The child will tap, hear, touch and learn. It is a way of making the kids learn smartly and reach the zenith of their intellectuality.
