As requested by teachers’ groups, the Tamil Nadu school education administration has granted a holiday for schools on October 16.

The schools are open six days a week, including Saturdays, after reopening for Classes IX through XII. With the state government proclaiming Ayudha Puja and Vijaya Dashami vacations on October 14 and 15, numerous teachers’ associations requested that the department declare Saturday as a holiday so that teachers may return to their hometowns.

After considering their demands, October 16 has been declared a school holiday in the interest of teachers and kids,” school education commissioner K Nanthakumar said in a circular released on Wednesday.
