Pinarayi Vijayan and Chandru Iyer, British Deputy High Commissioner, met in the state to explore possibilities for mutual collaboration in healthcare, education, Fintech, and other sectors!
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan discussed potential cooperation between Kerala and the United Kingdom in areas such as healthcare, education, and Fintech with British Deputy High Commissioner Chandru Iyer in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. Vijayan said the UK has expressed interest in working with the Kerala government in the higher education sector among others.
Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted his thanks to the British Deputy High Commissioner @chandruiyer for their productive conversation and offered assistance in forging potential partnerships between the UK and Kerala in essential areas such as education, healthcare, and scientific research. He also highlighted the government’s dedication to improving higher education in the state and noted his belief that there is plenty of scope for collaboration with Britain in this field.
“The Deputy High Commissioner has informed us about the plan to conduct an Education World Forum. We will discuss the possibility of Kerala participating in the Forum with the Department of Higher Education and Vice Chancellors,” the Chief Minister said in a Facebook post.
Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala’s Chief Minister, reported that Britain is taking notice of the Graphene Centre and the Incubation Centre of Kerala, which the Kerala government has been promoting for startups and innovation. He added that the state is aiming to set up Centres in areas like Biological Science. Consequently, it is evident that the Kerala government is engaging with the global community to boost innovation and development.
Chandru Iyer, responsible for Kerala and Karnataka, declared Britain’s willingness to collaborate with the Indian state, which is one of the highest achievers. The South Asian Trade Commissioner for Britain, Alan Gemmell, along with Kerala’s Chief Secretary, V P Joy, was present at the gathering.
